Amelie: We've been making our own games out of wood, cardboard, plastic, fabric, clay, bamboo, stones, sticks and gems. It was magical designing and painting our games. I called mine 'A Bugs Garden'. It's all about butterflies and bugs and the best thing about it is that it's got little diamond counters that you play with.
Elizabeth: My game, 'Trick and Try', is about rolling and you need to get to the star before anybody else does. We made it out of clay and wood and we painted it. We had lots of fun making it with Mrs Rowell and Mr Nichols, Mr Beaumont, some Year 6 boys and Mrs Casey. You could make this game from any type of materials.
Erin: My game is 'Fairies and Toadstools'. You have to spin the dice and then you see which number it is. If you land on purple, you have to start again. My game is great, I love it!
William Clarke: I had lots of fun making my game, 'Giraffes' (Draughts!). It was a bit hard. I painted squares white and black and I made one team red and one team green. If you get to the end of the whole board, you get a king and then you can move backwards and do whatever you like.
Alfie: My game, 'Super Spin', is about getting points to win. You have to put the ball on the ground, spin it and then it goes into a number pot. I broke a piece of bamboo with a nail, Mr Nichols hammered it for me, and drilled a hole and then I painted it. It is red and it is fun. It has been a really good week.
Monty: My game is 'Snakes and Ladders' made of wood. I drew ladders and snakes on with a black pen. It's red and blue and I like it. You need to climb the ladders when you land on one. If you land on the snake it takes you to it's den.
Lennon: I made 'Tic Tac Toe' for my game. If you get three in a row, you win the game. You can go sideways, forwards, diagonally all ways. Instead of noughts and crosses, I made green and orange football shirts.
It has also been our THLPS Cross Country event. Congratulations to each of you wonderful children who finished the race - your teachers were extremely proud to see such excitement and energy, along with the smiles and laughter! Our Year 1s were unbelievably amazing, walking away with not only three of the six medals in Key Stage 1(!), but two of them were GOLDS!! What a brilliant ending to the week - thank you to the lovely Mrs Hood!
